How to Connect 3sparks Chat to LM Studio

Run powerful AI models locally on your computer using LM Studio and connect it to 3sparks Chat.

What is LM Studio?

LM Studio is a desktop application that allows you to download and run AI language models locally on your computer. This means you can have private conversations without sending your data to cloud services.

Prerequisites

  • A computer with at least 16GB RAM (32GB recommended)
  • At least 10GB of free disk space
  • Windows, macOS, or Linux operating system

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

1. Download and Install LM Studio

Visit lmstudio.ai and download the appropriate version for your operating system. Follow the installation instructions for your platform.

2. Download a Language Model

Once LM Studio is installed:

  1. Open LM Studio
  2. Click on the "Models" tab
  3. Choose a model (we recommend starting with "Mistral 7B")
  4. Click "Download" and wait for the download to complete

3. Start the Local Server

  1. Click on the server tab
  2. Click "Start Server"
  3. Note the server URL (usually http://localhost:1234)

4. Connect 3sparks Chat

  1. Open 3sparks Chat
  2. Click the settings icon in the top right
  3. Select "LM Studio" as your model provider
  4. Enter the server URL from step 3
  5. Click "Save"

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Connection Failed
Make sure LM Studio server is running and the URL is correct. Check that no other applications are using port 1234.
Slow Responses
Try using a smaller model or check if your computer meets the model's minimum requirements.
Out of Memory Errors
Close other applications or try a smaller model. Some models require significant RAM to run properly.
